Every organization has a reason. Ours has a name.
James was dismissed early — not from a job, but from kindergarten, and from the quiet expectations that follow a child ever after. The system looked at him and saw what he could not do. It filed him accordingly. What it never measured was what he knew, because it never found a way to let him show it.
His story, in his words
A successful story despite his disabilities. This page says it plainly, once, because the story is true: James is a testimony and hope for all those in fear for the future — and twenty years before CAEA, the struggle was real. He needed tutoring, the schools that fit, a supportive learning route that worked, the thousand hours of standing between a capable mind and a world that kept mistaking a blocked route for an empty room. James crossed every ramp. He graduated from college. He drives. And today he is the co-founder of this Center — not its cautionary tale. Its co-founder.

Here is what I learned, and what this Center now argues in every school board room and statehouse that will listen: the ramp worked. But it took twenty years of one person’s full-time devotion to be one — and most families cannot spend a parent. For the first time in history, technology can put a ramp within reach of every family. That is worth protecting. And it is worth protecting carefully, because the same technology, built with different intentions, has already hurt children. We hold both of those truths at once. That is the whole organization, in one sentence.
